La Dolce Vita
Nestled in the heart of Little Italy, La Dolce Vita is a small, intimate restaurant with European charm and authentic homestyle flavours. Inspired by Fellini’s 1960 film of the same name, La Dolce Vita translates to ‘the sweet life,’ and that’s certainly a fitting descriptor for this delightful pizzeria. Stepping through the front door, you will find yourself instantly transported to a little trattoria somewhere in Europe. It’s the ideal spot for a romantic meal, a family dinner or a festive gathering with friends.
At La Dolce Vita, customers can enjoy real, homemade cuisine. All dishes are made ‘from scratch,’ with original creations including salad dressings, seafood sauce, pesto sauces and more. Pizza dough and pastas are made fresh on site daily, and the restaurant is always stocked with high-quality produce.

La Dolce Vita’s staff is friendly and welcoming, and they’re very knowledgeable about fine Italian food! The head chef, Tarek, has been with the restaurant for fifteen years, and is renowned as one of the best in Ottawa. He puts his heart and soul into everything he creates, and the restaurant’s success owes much to his innovation and dedication to the culinary arts. His special touch makes all of the dishes unforgettably delicious.

La Dolce Vita’s reputation as one of Ottawa’s finest gourmet Italian restaurants has seen the eatery double in size and popularity over the past few years. The regular and Chef's specials feature a large number of traditional pastas and calzones, but the pizza menu is where the chef's imagination really shines. The restaurant’s signature 5-cheese pizza features a hazelnut pesto whose recipe is a closely-guarded secret. Homemade lasagnes, spaghetti and meatballs are perennial favourites, and the restaurant also serves some of the best Tiramisu and Crème Brulée desserts in the city.

For patrons with special dietary restrictions, La Dolce Vita is a beloved destination, offering a wide variety of alternative choices. The Ottawa Celiac Association often hosts dinners at the restaurant because of its extensive list of gluten-free food choices. La Dolce Vita features one of the only comprehensive gluten-free menus in Ottawa, covering everything from main entrees to appetizers and even desserts. The restaurant is always adding new items to the special menu, and regular customers appreciate the extra effort. Recently, a delicious Gluten-Free Manicotti joined the menu to much acclaim.

Behind the bar, La Dolce Vita serves an amazing Bloody Caesar! They also feature a great martini list called 'The Seven Deadly Sins,' derived from Fellini's La Dolce Vita – each martini is named after a character in the film. The restaurant also has a large, well-rounded selection of wines and beers including Warsteiner on tap. The specialty coffee list runs from espresso to cappuccinos to Monte Cristo and Millionaire’s coffees.

A popular place for parties, La Dolce Vita’s atmosphere is as attractive as the cuisine. Patrons of all ages call the restaurant a favourite, with many regulars returning and bringing along their friends. In the summertime, the patio attracts party-goers, while the restaurant’s interior keeps a quieter, more romantic atmosphere. Dress is usually casual. Day or night, moodappropriate music can be heard in the background, notably the musical stylings of Jesse Cook. Depending on the time of year, customers might also be also treated to a live music night.

The restaurant is open seven days a week, so every day is a good day to come to La Dolce Vita! Reservations are recommended a few days ahead of time for smaller parties. Friday and Saturday nights are usually completely booked by Thursday, so plan ahead. Large groups should book as early as possible.

The restaurant can put together special menus for groups upon request. Catering and home delivery are also available 7 days a week.
