What is Search Engine Optimization? (SEO)

Search Engines are responsible for directing 95% of all internet traffic to the most successful small business websites. If you want your company to appear within the top listings of all major search engines, your website needs to be designed using a specific SEO methodology. In order to obtain a high ranking, your keywords, key phases, alt tags, and link popularity, must adhere to the exact requirements (which can change weekly) of the Search Engines. The vast majority of all Small Business websites are NOT designed to produce high-ranking results within the Search Engines. If no one can find your site – there’s no point in having one!

Understanding Website Statistics:

When you ask someone how much traffic their website receives, you’ll often hear people say “We get 100,000 hits per month” – in short, “hits” are irrelevant.

Actual “hits” refers to the number of components (ie: photos or graphics) that are recorded by the statistics program; for example, if a website has 25 separate components on its home page, a single visit will record a minimum of 25 hits – if that person visits 5 pages, they’ll generate 125 hits… but what you really have is one set of eyeballs. So, the real barometer for website traffic is “unique users”.
